The Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) is Uganda's national trade association for licensed, professional tour operators, founded in 1995. It connects buyers with a vetted member network and advocates for quality, ethics and sustainable growth in Uganda's tourism sector. AUTO has grown into Uganda's principal tourism trade association, today listing 400+ accredited members. Members are expected to meet standards of licensing, service quality, safety, ethics and reliability. For international travel trade, membership functions as a practical quality filter, with Secretariat verification and a structured complaints process. Beyond accreditation, AUTO engages government and industry stakeholders — including links to the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), Uganda Tourism Association (UTA) and Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) — and supports marketing through exhibitions, capacity building and sustainability initiatives.
